Itinerary

Upon arrival at the Tribhuwan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be received by a representative from Lapha Holidays and then transferred to your hotel. At the hotel, you will be greeted with welcome drinks. We then have a quick pre-trip meeting where you will be briefed on the necessary formalities and your trekking itinerary. You can spend the remaining time resting and strolling around the nearby places just to get the feel of what this city is like.

After succulent breakfast at your hotel, our private transport will take you to domestic airport for a morning flight to Pokhara. It is a 25 minutes flight and while on board you can enjoy the mountainous vista; Mt Annapurna and Mt. Fishtail (Machhapuchchre) in their snowy attire as you glance from the window.

Drive to Pokhara takes 5-6 hrs depending upon the traffic. You can either take tourist bus or private vehicle to Pokhara. The drive to pokhara is fun and exciting. You will be flowing along the Trisuli River and Marsyangdi River enjoying the views of green hills and forest and people enjoying rafting in Trisuli.

After breakfast we drive to Nayapul, the base of trek, which is approx. takes 1 ½ hrs drive from Pokhara. We then trek to Ulleri via Birethanti. There are no roads to Ulleri and the only way to get to Ulleri is to hike. You can find donkeys and yaks transporting packages and luggage up and down the hills. The short walk uphill from Nayapul leads us to Birethati (1015m), Tikhedhunga and several traditional villages. The trail passes through traditional style houses, shops, restaurants and Magar settlements which will take you away from modern civilization. The rhododendron forest, hills and terrace farmland and indigenous villages along the route are main attraction of the day. After 5 hours’ walk, we finally reach Ulleri passing through a step stone staircase (which has about 3300 steps). Ulleri is a lovely Magar village at 2080m with all the traditional styles houses. The views of Himalayas from Ulleri are amazing and are sure to take your breath away.

Today is the second day of our trek. After breakfast we head to Ghorepani. Contrary to the Ulleri trail, it’s much steeper and basically no part of it is completely flat. Ghorepani offers spectacular mountainous panorama of Dhaulagiri (8172m), Nilgiri (6940m), Annapurna South (7219m), Annapurna I (8091m), Hiunchuli (6434m) and Tarke Kang (7069m). The route passes through green alpine tree-lines of oaks, pines and rhododendron forest.

Today, we start our trek to Poon hill before the sunrise at 3210m to capture the mesmerizing view of sunrise over the high Himalayas including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Manaslu, Mt. Machhapuchhre to Annapurna and as far to Ganesh Himal in the far eastern horizon. After spending shimmering morning in Poon hill, we continue to walk uphill and downhill passing through several small villages such as Deurali and Banthali and finally to Tadapani. Tadapani is located in the middle of enchanting woods of pine and rhododendrons with super views of Mt. Annapurna and Mt.Machhapuchhre.

Today, we head to Sinuwa. On the way, we can enjoy great views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Fishtail and Ganggapurna. A steep descent takes us to Kimrong Khola another steep ascent from Kimrong Khola to Chere Danda, we finnaly reach Chhomrong, the gateway to the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Chhomrong is a beautiful Gurung village tucked at the base of Himal Chuli. We again descend via 2500 steps and cross suspension bridge above Chhomrong Khola to reach Sinuwa.

After breakfast we descend through cool thick forest of rhododendron, oaks and bamboo until we reach Bamboo. Continuing up the rocky trail and damp and cold bamboo forest we finally reach Doban. Continuing further the forest opens up and we continue our way forward as we pass by the Himalaya Hotel and we are out in the sun again with astounding views of the glacial river below .Climbing further to the rocky ascent to Hinko cave (3100m), we finally approach Deurali.

After early breakfast, we march forward from Deurali to Annapurna Base Camp. The trail continues to climb and you will soon be trekking through a mix of bamboo and birch trees until you approach Bagar. The hike from Bagar to Machhapuchhre Base Camp is somewhat strenuous. You will pass through avalanche paths and it’s quite obvious here to see the dangers of avalanches and many locals will tell you if there have been any recently. From Machhapuchhre base camp we get excellent views of the majestic Machhapuchhre along with Mt. Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna III, Gandharvachuli and Gangapurna which is certainly a rewarding experience. The trail to Annapurna Base camp is not too difficult. The vegetation disappears on our way to ABC and there is often snow along this route which will hide the trail. From the base camp we get to savor mesmerizing 360-degree panorama views of the Machhapuchhre, Annapurna South , Annapurna I, Hiunchuli and other peaks. Base camp has several nice hotels with a good range of rewarding meals on offer and the best views to offer.

After spending the life time experience in heart pleasing surrounding of Annapurna Base Camp, we gradually march back to Bamboo. Descending down on the same path, we walk pass Deurali, Himalayan Hotel, Hinko Cave, Doban and finally to Bamboo.

From Bamboo, we continue to retrace our original trek down past Kuldigar, Sinuwa, Tiche followed by a downhill walk and stone steps climb to Chhomrong village. The trial now descends to Jhinu Danda, where we will be staying overnight. Jhinu Danda is popular for its natural hot springs located at the edge of the thundering Modi River. You can lay down in this natural hot spring and to soothe your tired muscles from the trek.

Today is the last day of our trek, after breakfast we head forward to Nayapul enjoying the amazing hills, landscape and giving farewell to amazing Annapurna Massifs. Upon reaching Nayapul , we board our vehicle to Pokhara which is approx. 1 hour drive.

We can either take early morning bus or afternoon flight to Kathmandu depending upon your interest. If you take an afternoon flight we can spend some quality time in Lake City, Pokhara. Pokhara is popular for boating in Phewa Lake, paragliding, and zip flying. After arriving in Kathmandu, we will escort you to your hotel. To celebrate the success of the completion of our journey to Annapurna Base Camp, we will have a farewell dinner party in the evening and enjoy the succulent traditional Nepali cuisines and a cultural extravaganza.
